CW Announce New Head Coach

CW rugby announced today their pick for head coach, elite men : Scott Manning. “Scott has a well-defined philosophy, passion for the game, and an approach to working with player leaders that will lend itself well to the CW environment.” – according to CW president Don Swainson. The selection was made after a two-month search that included applicants from across Canada and around the rugby world by a selection committee that included exec members, players and coaches.

Scott grew up playing rugby in Edmonton, Alberta for the Strathcona Druids RFC. Scott has played in the Canadian Rugby Championship, and has experience as a national team player at the age-grade level and as a varsity player at the University of Victoria. Scott’s love for the game has never stopped growing, as his focus has shifted from playing to refereeing, to coaching. Scott is currently completing his Masters of Education in Coaching Studies at the University of Victoria.

Some of Scott’s recent coaching experiences include:
• Strathcona Druids RFC, Premier Women Head Coach
• British Columbia Senior Women, Assistant Coach
• St. Michael’s University School, Coach and Video Analyst
• Strathcona Druids RFC, Under-19 Mens Head Coach

“Being new to CW, we expect an adjustment period for our players and coaches, to Scott’s style of coaching. That said, we are very excited about the potential of our Men’s program under Scott’s leadership this season” – says Swainson.

Upright Rugby Looking for Elite 7s Players for North American Invitational Tournament from Tyler Leggatt

Dear Coaches and Colleagues;

The Upright Rugby Rogues have been invited to a highly reputable and esteemed competition in Utah late July (www.nai7s.com) and we need players!!

We currently have SIX committed and need six more....we usually like to stay 'home-grown" but with the expansion of the junior rep 15s program in Ontario, our summer talent pool is VERY limited to say the least!

So.... we need your help!!

I ask that you please send the email below to any capable and worthy 7s players who you feel would benefit from this elite competition and tour opportunity at your earliest convenience.

PLEASE NOTE: AGE CUT-OFF FOR THIS EVENT IS SEPT 1, 1997. Therefore, those born AFTER September 1st of 1997 are STILL age eligible. Please consider your U18 roster from last year as well!

Thank you again for your support of your athletes and the sport of 7s. This is by far, the fastest growing sport globally and we need to made a concerted and collaborative effort to ensure that the right athletes are exposed to the right opportunities.

Many thanks in advance.
