Men's Premier Schedule Spring 2017

posted Dec 17 2016
[ed. comments below. Note the game on the 14th has been postponed until the 21st.]

The season starts off early on Jan 14th 21st with UVic visiting UBC. The schedule gets into full swing on Jan 28th.

CW get a tough start with two road games vs Seattle and Rowers. They have three mainland trips over the season. JBAA start off with a road trip to Burnaby and also have three mainland trips in season. The finals are scheduled to be held in Abbotsford, so that may be four trips by end of season. The Vikes, the 3rd Island team, follow their UBC trip with a trip to Capilano and also travel to the mainland three times.

Burnaby start off with three home games and travel to the island twice near the end of the season. The Caps open at home vs the Vikes and only travel once to the island in March. Ravens travel twice to the island and open on the road against UBC, a similar start to the fall season when they upset the T-Birds. The Rowers get a bye in the first week then travel to Burnaby, they also travel twice to the island. Seattle open at home vs CW and travel once to the island to play James Bay. UBC, the defending champions, start with three home games and travel to the island once later in the season to play CW.

It's not a schedule made to maximize gate revenue, a major difference between amateur and professional thinking. The Island market is left without any games on Jan 28th and Feb 18th, then they have three mainland teams visiting on March 18th. Ideally there would be one mainland team visiting each weekend as they would be the "feature" match and draw the largest crowds.
