Club Updates: Men's Coach Announced; Search for Women's Coach Continues; PRC Wrap Up; All-City Team; John Cannon Memorial Touch Tournament

Dave Chambers has taken on the role of running the men’s program for the upcoming year. The ARFC community is excited to have Dave on board. Dave has been involved with National, Provincial, Regional, Club, and High School rugby for many years. For the past decade Dave has been coaching the ARFC senior women and he will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and dedication to the ARFC senior men. Assisting Dave will be Dan Tou. Dan, as many people will know has been a long time fly-half for the ARFC and will move into a player-coach role this year.

The ARFC are still seeking applicants for the vacant Senior Women’s coaching position. Please email with a CV and cover letter.

The ARFC is proud to have had so many youth players being represented at the PRC’s that were held July 1st – 3rd at Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. Players and coaches from Abbotsford were well represented on the various Fraser Valley teams. Fraser Valley Teams came away with 2 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze. Thank you to all the players and volunteer coaches who put in a huge amount of work.

The ARFC would like to congratulate the following players who have been selected to the Abbotsford All-City team. These players are selected from the local high schools each year in recognition of their dedication, commitment and skill during the past high school year. This year the U-18 All City boys took on Sutton Valence from England on Saturday, July 8th at Yale. Congratulations to all players named to the All-City teams.

Finally, the ARFC would like to remind everyone that the John Cannon Memorial Touch tournament will take place this year on August 12th, 2017. This year the goal is to raise up to $50,000 for the John Cannon Memorial Fund which will help support local youth rugby players chase their rugby dreams. See for more information on the tournament.
