Boys Defeat Bective Rangers U20 26-5; Girls Split Matches Against Leinster and Launguedoc of France
The BC Boys U18 team defeated a U20 side from Bective Rangers at Donnybrook, Ireland. Head coach Adam Roberts indicated the physicality at the breakdown was immense and likely something the boys hadn't experienced before. They did well in attack and their lineout work was a key to victory. He remarked how proud he was of the boys and looking forward to the challenge of Leinster on Saturday.
The Girls U18 team had a mini-tournament with two games against Leinster and one against Launguedoc of France. The girls won both games against Leinster but lost the one to Launguedoc. They will play Munster on Saturday.
Starting Roster for Wednesday's BC U18 Boys vs Bective Rangers at Donnybrook
The coaching staff of the Boys U18 had to scramble when they arrived on the ground in Ireland finding both their game against Munster and Corinthians had been cancelled. Head Coach Adam Roberts used his gift of the blarney to find two good fixtures to replace them. They won their first match over Mullingar 34-0 and now head to Donnybrook to face Bective Rangers. Saturday they face Leinster.

The term Donnybrook which means "a scene of uproar and disorder; a heated argument" got its origin from the Donnybrook Fair, a notoriously disorderly event, held annually in Donnybrook from 1204 until the middle of the 19th century.
Update on BC U18 Tour: Girls Defeat Munster 22-10; Boys Match vs Munster Cancelled: Boys Beat Mullingar RFC U18 34-0 in Monday Fixture
The BC U18 teams had games scheduled for Munster on Saturday, the Girls defeated Munster 22-10. The Boys match was cancelled and we're trying to find out more from the BCRU. The answer was apparently a mix up in dates Munster was available; someone, somewhere dropped the ball on that one. The Munster U18 Clubs team was in London on Saturday playing the Irish Exiles, report here.
Coaches managed to scramble and find a match with Mullingar RFC U18 team on Monday evening, BC won that match 34-0. The game Wednesday against Corinthians RFC is cancelled as well but a fixture with Bective Rangers at Donnybrook has been arranged.
The Saturday match vs Leinster is still a go.
A correction on the Girls game, scoring was as follows. Valerie Wideski, Shoshanah Seumanutaf & Faith Fitzpatrick with 2 tries (we had taken the original information from a Tweet by hosts Railway Union RFC)
BC Announce U18 Teams to Tour Ireland in August
posted July 27 2017
BC U18 are touring Ireland in August in part helped by a grant by the Canadian Rugby Foundation's Bridge the Gap Fund. The American EIRA Academy team are in Ireland now, their U16 and U17 teams were in BC a couple of weeks ago. They're playing Ulster and Leinster, BC are playing Munster and Lienster. EIRA won their Ulster match but lost the Leinster match. They sent a U17 team while BC is sending a U18 team.
The teams fly out August 10th and return August 21 and get a chance to take in one of Canada's world cup games as well.Boys Team photosGirls Team photosBCRU press release
BC Rugby has announced the U18 Boys’ and Girls’ XVs Teams that will be travelling to Ireland in August 2017. As part of the Tour, the teams will test themselves against top international programs, including Leinster and Munster Academies.
The Tour is part of BC Rugby’s new approach to seek out challenging and valuable competitions to ensure optimum athlete development. In turn, this should help in the process of developing more BC players to lead National Teams to success.
While in Ireland, the players will also have the exciting opportunity to watch the Women’s Rugby World Cup match between Canada and New Zealand in Dublin. Doubtless the sight of BC athletes like Carolyn McEwan, Andrea Burk, Chelsey Minter and Brittany Waters playing for their country on the biggest international platform in the game will prove inspirational.
