Jake Ilnicki Signs With Newcastle Falcons; Ardron at Bay of Plenty; Hassler Healthy Again with Ospreys
The Newcastle Falcons announced the signing of tighthead prop Jake Ilnicki for the season as an injury replacement. That makes three Canadians in the Falcons lineup. Both Olmstead and Ilnicki started for the Newcastle "A" development team in their win over Wasps "A" on Monday. Newcastle won that game handily 67-21. DTH hasn't shown up on the 1st or 2nd team roster yet, possibly recovering from the injury that kept him out of the second Canada v USA match this summer.
Hopefully Rugby Canada are maintaining good relationships with Newcastle as they will likely require the services of the three in the Canada v Uruguay world cup qualifying series January 27th and February 3rd.
In NZ Tyler Ardron got the start for Bay of Plenty vs Hawkes Bay a week ago, he was replaced about 50 minutes in with his replacement, Jesse Parete, scoring two tries in the last 30. Parete got the start this week against Wellington and Ardron wasn't in the match day 23.
Jeff Hassler was back in the lineup for Ospreys vs Zebre this weekend. Ospreys won the match 22-13. Social Media
Thankfully Newcastle knows what Ilnicki looks like when they put out their press releases but the UK press, including the BBC, continue to put Nick Blevins photo on stories for Ilnicki.
