Victory Stolen from Kats in 21-20 Loss to Chilliwack
The Kats arrived early and in force at Yarrow Field in Chilliwack. The game started well with the Kats setting up camp in attacking territory for the majority of the half. As though by design the seemingly 40m wide field proved a challenge for the Kats as their fast recycle rugby couldn't find open space in the back field. the Kats persevered going up by 2 tries before the half.
In the second half the Chilliwack crash ball and pick-and-go made its way up the field grinding the pace of the game to a halt and resulting in the first try for the Crusaders. The Kats responded by attacking with vengeance but an intercept by the Chilliwack defender lead to an 80m try bringing the game closer.
Both teams then traded tries once again bringing the score to an even 15-15.
With 10 minutes left a Chilliwack penalty kick gave them the lead at 18-15. The Kats found themselves behind for the first time in the season but rallied to score their 4th try of the match to regain the lead at 18-20 with 5 minutes to play. Alas a maul infringement lead to a penalty outside the Kats 22 which the Chilliwack skipper slotted over to take the final score of 21-20 Chilliwack.
Although defeated the Kats will seek to exact revenge November 25th at Balaclava Park, Kickoff 12:45.
