from UVic Vikes

The UVic Vikes men's rugby team had all the pressure late but couldn't punch through a strong Capilanos defence in a 22-21 loss on Nov. 11.

Brennig Prevost handled the kicking duties on the day and was successful on three penalty goals as well as one conversion while Spencer Cooper and James O'Neill scored a try each in the loss.

Dealing with wet conditions the Vikes hung tough with the fifth-place team in the B.C. Premier League but weren't able to put the potential game-winning points on the board despite controlling the game late.

The loss drops the Vikes to 2-6 on the season as the young team continues to improve in a very tight B.C. Premier League. They now sit seventh overall with 14 points, six back of the sixth-place James Bay Bays.

A big weekend is ahead for the team as they get set for the Canadian University Championships, hosted in Guelph, ON. The Vikes are matched up with the host Gryphons to kick off the tournament on Nov. 17

Capilano v. UVic - Nov 11 2017

One Premier Match UVic @ Capilano at Klahanie Park: Rosters and Preview

On Remembrance Day weekend there is only one make-up match in BC Premier, the UVic Vikes visit Capilano. There's also a few lower division matches and Burnaby are hosting the College Rifles from Auckland. Also not mentioned in the BCRU schedule VIU from Nanaimo are visiting Squamish to take on Quest University.

UVic @ Capilano

#6 hosting #7 and both coming off impressive wins last weekend, Caps defeating the Bays on the road and UVic taking down CW at home. It's reading break at the university so they are missing some out of province players who have returned home for the week, also a couple are with Canada on tour. UVic will also be looking at the following week when they head east for the national XVs university championship at Guelph. The Caps at home with key players available like Neil Courtney, Glenn McKinnon, Chris Robinson, Adam Zaruba should handle the weakened UVic side. Prediction: Caps by 8.
