Abbotsford Wrap Up Season in Semi-Final Loss: Welcome Clubs to Provincial Finals at Rotary Stadium on Saturday
from Mark Adams
The Sr. Women's team's season came to an end last weekend with a BC Semi Final loss to a strong Meralomas side. The Lomas took it to Abbotsford in the first half, maintaining possession for many phases before scoring. They were up by 25 points at the half. The second half the Abby women showed no quit and played very well. They were knocking on Lomas door many times with attacks from Shalaya Valenzuela and Viv Johnston. However, the Lomas were able to hold them out and the final score was 37-7 for Merlomas.
The Abby women had a successful season with a final record of 13-5. The girls lost a lot of players due to injury, travel, and work throughout the season. They look forward to getting everyone back and healthy for the 2018-19 season.
The ARFC would like to thank all the players, coaches, volunteers and supporters this year. Both ARFC men and women look forward to welcoming the next crop of young talent into the club as we aim for a successful 2018-2019 season. As well, Abbotsford is excited to welcome the BC rugby community as Rotary Stadium and Exhibition Park play host to the BC club finals. It should be a great day to celebrate all the hard work clubs have put in over the course of the 2017-2018 rugby season.
