All BC Rugby Schedules: Men's Premier, 1st, 2nd, 3rd; Women's Island, Tier A, Tier B

BC Rugby released all the schedules, linked below. We'll just comment on some of the changes from last seasons.

Big change is Div 2, it's where all the action is, it used to be a neglected league where some Div 1 sides would play their second teams and one or two Premier sides would put in their 3rd or 4th side. Now besides hosting all the Div 1 second teams a number of former Div 1 and Div 3 teams have migrated to Div 2, Brit Lions, Langley, Kelowna, Kamloops, SFU, Scribes. Also Burnaby from Premier are putting in a side.

Other big change is no Premier women in the fall, where do all the elite women players go now? The women's Premier has been declining over the last few years with fewer teams, CW and Westshore on the Island, Burnaby and Caps on the mainland, and Seattle in the states. Now they have three regional leagues in the fall, one on the island and two on the mainland. The Premier apparently to go in the spring.

The men's Div 1 has become the neglected league now and as mentioned before there have been calls to drop Premier Reserve down into Div 1. Some teams now play regional rivals 4 times a season.

Men's Premier has changed slightly with Rowers returning and making it a 12 team league, there's more regional focus this season.

Women’s leagues this season are to be split into Fall & Spring competitions. The leagues have been split into Island Tier, Mainland Tier A and Mainland Tier B. This is to reduce travel, reduce cost and promote player development.
