Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship Starts November 21st at UVic: Six Teams to Compete UBC, UVic, Queen's, Guelph, Concordia, UNB
The second Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship begins in just over a week, November 21st to 25th, hosted by the University of Victoria. The championship tournament is partially funded by a grant from the Canadian Rugby Foundation as part of its platform for developing Canadian grassroots rugby. The Foundation also funded the inaugural Canadian Rugby Club Championship this year. The Title Sponsors for the tournament this year are Victoria Mitsubishi and the Carson automotive group.
Last year, the inaugural Canadian Men’s University XVs Championship took place November 16-19, 2017 at the University of Guelph. The tournament included six teams, two from BC (UVic and UBC), two from Ontario (Guelph and McMaster), one from Quebec (Concordia) and one from the Maritimes (UPEI). The University of British Columbia (UBC) won the tournament with a 37-12 win over the University of Victoria (UVic). McMaster came 3rd ahead of hosts University of Guelph.
This year UBC (West 1) and UVic (West 2) return as the best of the west, while Queen’s (ON 1) and Guelph (ON 2) represent Ontario, Concordia (QUE) returns as the Quebec representative and UNB (MAR) represents the Maritimes.

The winner of the tournament is awarded the Spence McTavish Trophy. The event will be live streamed, details to be provided in the coming week.
