Photos from Toronto Arrows vs Centralized Players Scrimmage - Arrows Dominate 7 Tries to 1
This scrimmage seemed for the Toronto Arrows benefit more so than the opposition which could be described as a Centralized program + local players team. The Arrows were certainly more organized and motivated as they prepare for their New Orleans trip and the start of the MLR season. They were up 5 tries to none at the half and were playing all the rugby. The Centralized team had the likes of Pat Parfrey, Doug Fraser, Ben Lesage, Theo Sauder, Ryan Kotlewski, Djustice Sears-Duru, Nick Blevins, Luke Campbell, Dustin Dobravsky on the pitch in the first half but some of them didn't seem too keen to be in the match and when some were replaced by the "hopefuls" - the non carded local players, in the second half, the match became more competitive. The second half was closer, 2 tries to 1 for the Arrows.
For the Arrows Mike Sheppard seemed to be everywhere, the Arrows had the advantage on the outside with Dan Moor and Kainoa Lloyd going up against some of the national U20 players and using their strength advantage. Jamie Mackenzie looked sharp at scrum half and the Arrows had the advantage with quick ball at the breakdown. Sheppard, Mackenzie and Lloyd are with the Canada team heading to South America.
It was a good run out for the Arrows but highlights the need for some "Pacific Pride" style organization for the Centralized program which currently has no identity at all and seems to just refer to players who train together in Langford. It wouldn't take much effort and thought to create a structure that would benefit the senior program, the U20 program and the 7s development program at the same time.

Some of the "hopefuls" for Canada await their 2nd half run out - Jared Stephens, Cole Mosychuk, Will Kelly, Josh Thiel along with Noah Barker. Some, like Mosychuck, are also slotted in for their BC Premier roster a few hours later across town.
