BC Rugby Schedules for 2019-20 Season: Pacific Pride in Premier; Crossover Games for Div 1/Premier Reserve; Div 2 from Kelowna to Squamish; Div 3 East @ West: UPDATED

The schedules have been updated and linked to the BCRU hosted .pdf files.

BC Premier

The big change in Premier is the inclusion of the Pacific Pride Academy. They will play each team once on the road, so 12 matches for them in the 13 team league. They'll have a bye the first 3 weeks as they get a chance to get the new program in running order. They play CW first, a shrewd move by CW as the Pride will likely get better as the season progresses. Nanaimo will be the final destination for the Pride in April. There are no games scheduled between December 7th and January 11th, there has been talk of moving the McKechnie Cup regional games to this window from the current post club season window in May. Also MLR teams will be looking for preseason matches during this time. The club finals will be on the Island this year, returning after many years on the Mainland. It's planned to coincide with the women's World Rugby 7s Series stop in Langford. Normally that event is the weekend after, it was May 11-12 last year so expect to see the event moved up a week to May 2-3 if the BCRU intel is correct.

Premier Reserve

The major change for Reserves is the weeks the Premier team play the Pride. Those weeks the Reserve team will either have a bye or play a crossover match versus a Division One side.

Division One

The introduction of the Pride has proven good news for Division One as it means more crossover matches with Premier Reserve. Division One has been the forgotten league recently with only 4 Mainland teams and 2 Island teams. This year each Division One side will get 3 or 4 crossover matches against Premier Reserve sides.

Division Two

This league has blossomed in recent years and has become the Mainland province-wide league with 11 teams from Kelowna to Squamish. This may be the first year Squamish have put teams in both Div 2 and 3 as they were dominating in Div 3.

Division Three

The Mainland have divided up into an East (7 teams) and West (8 teams) conference. Social rugby is alive and well on the Mainland. On the Island it has been more of struggle as of late to get social rugby organized. Older players from mid-30s on have been migrating to the Old Boy leagues and age-grade leagues attract the younger players. There is no Island Division Three schedule published yet but the BCRU have a note "Men's Island Division 3 is yet not complete and we will be in touch with those impacted Clubs early next week to discuss options."
