Westshore Weekend Match Reports - Losses to Pacific Pride and Port Alberni, Win over Comox: This Weekend Home Triple Header vs Capilano & Cowichan

by Clancy McDonnell

Premier Men: WRFC 5 - Pacific Pride 33

Westshore's VVs hosted the Pacific Pride on Saturday in proper wet conditions that the purists amongst us love. The Pride's scoring ability was stronger than the home side's and they eventually made away with a one-sided victory.

It wasn't all plain sailing for the visitors though, as the un-fancied home side made inroads, and for good passages in the game had the youngsters under serious pressure. The scrum and lineout were both significantly better than the previous week, and the defensive effort was admirable.

Aaron Frisby took some time away from running the 50/50 raffle to offer his take on the game, saying "defence is 90% attitude and 10% skill, and we're starting to work that out. The next step is converting red zone opportunities."

2nd XV: WRFC 5 - Port Alberni 31

It was another challenging game for the 2nd XV against a motivated team who came down from Port Alberni and had a flock of subs on the sideline.

Women: WRFC 41 - Comox 7

The women had a good trip up-Island and also got to enjoy some muddy rugby.

Coming Up

This weekend there is a triple header at home as the ladies host Cowichan (11:15), and the men host Capilano (12:45 & 2:30).

50/50 raffle tickets are still available, as are the side of beef raffle tickets. Aaron Hersant will once again be selling club gear this weekend - polo shirts, hoodies etc.
