Canadas U23 Womens Rugby Team won their second Border Battle match against the USA on Sunday, following up Wednesdays 24-5 win with a dominating 55-14 victory.

Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team is hosting Australia, Japan and Hong Kong China on Vancouver Island for a summer showcase in preparation for the rugby sevens Paris 2024 Qualification Event taking place at Starlight Stadium on August 19 and 20.
We had a look at a draft schedule for the BC Premier and it looks like it will be down to 10 teams from 11 with the Rowers not competing in Premier this season. The 10 teams would be:
BC hosted the Pacific Northwest Loggers on the weekend in four matches U16 and U18 Boys and Girls.
The BCRU have decided to get serious about the U20 age group and supporting the national U20 team and pathway. BC have been dominant nationally at the U19 level, yet haven’t seen that dominance translate in the number of selections for the national U20 squad.

Kia ora and thanks again for tuning in to BCRN for my 5th article of this series. It has already been almost 3 months and time has just flown by; I can’t believe it. Club season is over, and we are transitioning into representative rugby. I want to say congratulations to my fellow Canadian, (who you can get to know more about in Article 3) Callum Botchar, and his NPOB squad for winning the club championship. Hard work pays off buddy! All the best to you, and my other fellow Taranaki comrade, Izzak Kelly, on your trip with the senior men to Tonga. This article, I will be taking a different approach from the rugby recaps and dive a bit deeper into balancing life and rugby while travelling abroad.
World Rugby finally released its new format for the 2023-24 7s Series with 8 tournaments world wide with 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams competing at each tournament… and, yes, Vancouver made the list. Who didn’t make the list, England, France, NZ.
Canada finished 2nd in the Pacific Four Series with a commanding 45-7 win over Australia. New Zealand topped the competition with a 3-0 record.
Canada defeated Belgium 22-17 but they didn’t make it easy on themselves. Canada gave up three first half tries on the outside plus earned themselves a yellow card for some chippy play off the ball, they were down 17-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half. They were almost down four tries as Belgium ran another one in on the outside but it was called back and a red card given the Belgian player, that was the turning point in the match.
The Canadian U20 women fell to Wales 39-12 to finish the tournament 0-2. The USA win the tournament with a 2-0 record as Wales lost 28-27 to USA Womens U20s in Ottawa last week. Wales finish at 1-1.
