Nathan Abdelnour Leaves Position of Manager of Match Official Development at Rugby Canada; Two Canadian Players Recognized by World Rugby in 2020 Sevens Awards; Dave Mays Shares Some Humour and Insights in Article on Stages of Rugby “Addictive Infection”
Nathan Abdelnour Leaves Rugby Canada
Nathan who was the Manager, Match Official Development at Rugby Canada is leaving Rugby Canada. Yesterday he put this out on social media.
“Goodness, what a 7+ year ride that was! Today was my last day at Rugby Canada, and I could not have asked for a better experience. The people I have had the absolute pleasure working with over the years have been absolutely incredible.”
We wish him all the best in his next career move, he was always around the rugby pitch on a Saturday, quite often he was the man in the middle with the whistle.
We haven’t seen an announcement from Rugby Canada on his replacement although Paul Hunter, Director of Development, will likely absorb his duties in the short term.
Two Canadians Recognized by World Rugby
In the World Rugby 2020 Sevens Awards two Canadians made the virtual podium. Congratulations to Brittany Benn and Ghislaine Landry on making the Women’s 2020 Dream Team.

Dave Mays has rugby fever
Dave who has coached all over the world, including in BC, wrote up an article for his local paper in NZ. He shared it with us and we’re passing it on. It’s called Rugby Pandemic in the Modern Era. It tells a bit about his story and how rugby is an “addictive infection”, it’s written with a bit of tongue in cheek humour but many rugby people will relate to the stages and signs of the “infection”.
