BCRN Paid Intern Position: Job Description
We are looking for an individual to assist in the operation of BC Rugby News. The person will be employed by BC Grassroots Rugby and will share duties between organizations, spending at least two days coaching youth with BC Grassroots Rugby. The remaining time will be spent on BCRN activities. These may include the following tasks:
– Updating website content
– Taking photos of live rugby events and editing photos for publication
– Writing and editing articles
– Videotaping rugby events and editing content for publication
– Updating social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, instagram
– Interviewing rugby players and coaches
Rugby experience isn’t essential but is helpful. Mentoring and training will be provided through BCRN and BC Grassroots Rugby. The most important qualities to succeed at this position are a strong grounding in reading/writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn. You should feel comfortable interacting with people whether it’s interviewing adults or coaching youth. The position is open to those 15 to 30 years of age, you should own a laptop, all other equipment (cameras, video cameras, etc) will be provided as necessary. Working on Saturday will be required during rugby season.
The position pays $15.60 an hour with a 35 hour week. The duration of the position depends on BC Grassroots Rugby which is funding this endeavour, start date is negotiable.
