Friends of Rugby to Award Ten $2000 Scholarships and Two $3000 Scholarships: Application Form
‘BC Friends of Rugby’ is a group of passionate rugby people who are trying to give back and help grow our sport. This group is led by Eddie Evans, Mark Reid, Morris DeCotiis and John Middleton. They are involved in a number of plans to help support our sport of rugby.
Last year one of the initiatives was a scholarship program where a total of 10 scholarships valued at $2000 were awarded to talented young rugby players. Five were awarded to male athletes, and another five were awarded to female athletes. For the second year running the BC Friends of Rugby group would like to make this opportunity available to graduating high school students who are eligible to play for (or have played for) BC Rugby.
However, this year we are honoured to grow to the program by paying respect to two giants of our sport who recently passed away. We will be awarding an additional two scholarships of $3000 as named awards after Ted Bishop and Kevin Wirachowski. These awards will be made to a male and female front row player. These two front row specific scholarships are available for athletes in grade 12, and up to 2nd year university.
Coaches please encourage your athletes to apply, as it is our hope to help out these young rugby players continue on with both their education and rugby.
