from UBC
Dear UBC Men’s Rugby Alumni and Supporters,
I want to personally share the news with all of you, that I will be stepping down as head coach of the UBC Thunderbirds. As difficult as it is to say goodbye to this amazing program, I am leaving on the best of terms.
I am incredibly proud of everything we have built and the success we have had during my ten years with UBC, both assistant and head coach. While leading this team I have tried to create a culture of excellence that extends beyond the field and into the classroom and community. Our success has been about more than the just winning championships, it is about seeing the great personal and athletic development of our Thunderbird athletes. I am stepping away knowing that I achieved what I set out to do. I also know it is the right time to let someone else take over, and allow the program to continue to grow in new ways.
I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our alumni, sponsors and supporters. There is no community that rivals the UBC Men’s Rugby alumni. It has meant so much having you all in my corner.
My deepest thanks,
Curry Hitchborn
On behalf of all of UBC Athletics, I want to extend my sincerest thanks to Curry for his inspirational leadership over the past decade. We wish him nothing but the best in the future!
We also want to assure the Thunderbird Rugby community that a plan is in place for the interim time until a new, permanent head coach is confirmed. UBC Athletics has every confidence that the tremendous legacy Coach Curry has helped build on, will continue to grow and flourish under new leadership.
