A Selection of Match Photos from the October 4th Weekend

We have some great photographers in BC who post on social media, mostly Instagram and Facebook. We feature 6 this weekend. If you know of other photographers on social media who cover rugby, send us the link to their account, either in the comments below or email editor@bcrugbynews.com

Vikes Eden Kilgour scored the winning try in the match vs UBC – photo by John Richardson Images

What I like about the photo: Sometimes having the background in focus is a plus and that’s the case in this photo where the spectators reaction makes the photo standout.

Gone West Photography

Kaden Dugui shouting instructions in the maul – photo by Lauren Marquardt, Gone West Photography

What I like about the photo: The isolated face in a familiar rugby scenario, the maul, gives it a classic look.

Judy Teasdale Photography

Cooper Coats distributing the ball – Vikes vs UBC – by Judy Teasdale

What I like about the photo: Photos of well known players always carry a premium, especially when they’re playing in unusual situations, e.g. a national team #10 playing for university team. A classic pose for a #10 distributing the ball.

Lorne Collicutt

Comox player takes her eye off the ball as Nanaimo defenders close in – by Lorne Collicutt

What I like about the photo: Specific teaching points in rugby are sometimes caught on camera perfectly illustrated, such as eye focus when catching a ball. The photo also makes you want to know more, did she catch the ball or drop it?

BC Rugby News

Noah Kyneston dives to slam the ball down for a try against Seattle – by BCRN

What I like about the photo: Capturing an iconic rugby moment when a player dives and prepares to slam the ball down for a try with the defender draped over him. It’s a fraction of a second to get the right shot.

Alfred Rugby

Charity Williams attempts to fend defender – by Alfred Rugby

What I like about the photo: Great clarity, the facial expressions, the fingers interlocked on the attempted fend, a classic wing vs prop battle, speed vs power.
