BC U19 Men Win Match Against Quebec; Women Lose to Quebec
The U19 championships are playing out to script so far, the BC men’s team look to be title contenders while the Quebec women’s team looks on track for a championship title. The BC men have two tough games left against Atlantic and Ontario.

Atlantic look to have a strong men’s team as they’re also undefeated, taking down Ontario and Quebec. BC will play Atlantic on Friday and Ontario on Sunday.

The BC U19 men were dominant in their first match as they look to defend their Canadian title. BC defeated Alberta 59-0. The women’s team lost a close contest 33-29 to Alberta. In other action Ontario edged out Quebec in men’s play while Quebec women look strong with a decisive win over Ontario.
In action today Quebec and Atlantic square off in men’s and women’s divisions. BC are next in action on Wednesday when they take on Quebec.

*BC Announce U19 Teams and Schedule for U19 Canadian Championship: July 30th to August 6th at UBC*
The national U19 championship kicks off on Sunday July 30th with teams from BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic. The BCRU press release with the men’s and women’s rosters is posted below.
A side story is the Veo v Pixellot battle in the live stream. The BCRU will use their Veo system to live stream the BC matches, CBC Sports is beta testing their Pixellot system. Both AI cameras are competitors in a growing marketplace. Clubs who are considering investing in the technology will be able to compare the two systems.

BC Rugby is delighted to announce the BC Bears U19 Men’s and Women’s squads that will compete at the 2023 Canadian U19 Rugby Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Taking place at the University of British Columbia on July 30-August 6, 2023, the U19 National tournament returns to BC and will feature both Men’s and Women’s competition this year.
Both BC Bears teams will face strong competition against their counterparts from the Alberta Wolfpack, Ontario Blues, Rugby Quebec and the Atlantic Selects. The BC Bears U19 Men’s side goes into this year’s tournament as defending champions, having lifted the trophy at the 2022 Canadian U19 Rugby Championships in Guelph, Ontario.
Both the BC Bears U19 Men’s and Women’s squads were selected following numerous identification sessions and development camps held throughout BC, and the culmination of the 2023 Provincial Regional Championships.
The tournament will take place on the Lord Field in front of UBC’s Gerald McGavin Centre and will be free for the public to watch.
