Premier Final Make-Up Weekend Ravens Dominate UVic – Quarter-Finals Set Capilano @ JBAA and UVic @ Westshore
There was only one Premier match in the final make-up weekend before the playoffs, it was #1 Ravens vs #6 Vikes. The Ravens won handily and they’ll get a bye and host the semi-final on May 2nd while UVic visit Westshore in the quarter-finals next weekend. The Caps will visit JBAA in the other quarter-final. UBC also get a bye next week and host a semi-final on May 2nd. There was no women’s Premier this weekend, next weekend CW visit Westshore in the 4th/5th playoff before the semi-finals start on May 2nd with the top three teams being Meraloma, Burnaby, Thunderbirds.

Venue: U Of Victoria- Wallace Field
It was game over at the half, 29-5 for Ravens. The second half was more even as the teams traded scores. UVic get a bonus point in the loss but it doesn’t alter the playoff positions, Ravens finish #1 and Vikes #6. Next weekend the Vikes travel to Westshore, while the Ravens look to host a semi-final on May 2nd.
PREGAME
#6 hosting #1. The only impact this match will have on the playoffs if UVic can win with a bonus point. That result would change the quarter-final matchups as mentioned above.
UVic are putting out their top roster minus their two “star” players, Cooper Coats and Morgan di Nardo. Michael Oughtred takes the #10 role and Jack Penaluna starts on the wing. Based on recent results UVic would likely prefer to play Westshore rather than James Bay. UVic defeated Westshore by +21 in January and lost to JBAA by -17 in February.
The Ravens are definitely not going into this final make-up match with their foot off the gas. Andrew Coe, Lockie Kratz, Takoda McMullin, Reegan O’Gorman, it may be their strongest lineup of the season. The question comes up which players will be eligible for playoffs, the Rules of Competition state, “a Player must have Played at least 40% of the scheduled Matches for the team in their season to be eligible to represent that team in Playoff Matches” with the proviso that they will consider exemptions based on section 8.2 which covers illness, national duty, and “other” based on detailed rationale and supporting documentation.
The Ravens go in as favourites. Prediction: Ravens by +8.

Division One Playoff Structure
The Top 4 Teams in each region will progress through to the Playoffs with the following Playoff structure:
Quarter-Finals (April 25)
Mainland & Island
• Mainland Quarter-Final 1 – Seed 1 vs Seed 4 @ Seed 1 Home
• Mainland Quarter-Final 2 – Seed 2 vs Seed 3 @ Seed 2 Home
• Island Quarter-Final 1 – Seed 1 vs Seed 4 @ Seed 1 Home
• Island Quarter-Final 2 – Seed 2 vs Seed 3 @ Seed 2 Home
Currently the top 4 on the Island would be UVic, Nanaimo, Westshore, CW. The top 4 on the Mainland are Rowers, Capilano, Langley, Squamish. There are a couple of games that could change the seeding order, if UVic lose to Comox without a bonus point they’ll drop below Nanaimo in the points per match. If Capilano lose to Meraloma without a bonus point they’ll drop below Langley in the points per match.
The BCRU already have the Div 1 playoffs as:
Langley @ Caps
Westshore @ Nanaimo
CW @ UVic
Squamish @ Rowers

Strongest Ravens lineup to date! Coach Taylor is throwing everything at it in his last few games!! Go Ravens Go!!
Yeah there was some question about whether the Ravens would even want to play this game. Good on them to keep the pedal to the metal.
