Vancouver Wave Win Dunbar Keg U20 Title, UVic Defeat TWU in Coastal Cup Clash
The Vancouver Wave won the BC U20 regional title with a 29-19 win over the Vancouver Island Tide. Vancouver were up 17-7 at the half, the Tide closed the gap to 17-12 early in the second half. Vancouver added to their tally to go up 24-12 with still 30 minutes left in the match. The team exchanged tries to push the score to 29-19 with 10 minutes left. Vancouver ran into card troubles and were down to 12 men by the time the final whistle blew, they played tenacious defence to keep the Tide off the score board for the final 10 minutes and hoisted the cup.

In the Coastal Cup match it was UVic prevailing 29-13. UVic went up 5-0 after 10 minutes of play, they increased that to 12-0 half way through the first half. With 10 minutes left in the half UVic added another try for a 19-0 lead, TWU scored to end the half 19-5 in UVic’s favour. TWU had more possession in the second half with UVic adding 10 points to 8 for TWU for a final score of 29-13.

Dunbar Keg U20 Final on Saturday, Coastal Cup UVic v TWU and Kamloops 7s Tournament with 90+ Teams
The big event in BC Rugby this weekend is the Kamloops 7s with over 90 youth teams attending from BC and Alberta. You can check out our article on that here.
Another important event is the Dunbar Keg U20 final on Saturday between Island Tide and Vancouver Wave. Both teams are undefeated and it should be a great contest. That’s at Wallace Field, UVic at 12:45. Rosters are posted below.
Besides that there’s a Coastal Cup match between UVic and TWU that will be after the Dunbar Keg final at UVic, kickoff is 2:30pm. The teams will be wearing Indigenous designed jerseys, those will be auctioned off with proceeds to go to the Thunder Indigenous rugby program.
