BCRU Updates – December 2021

BCRU Updates on New Public Health Order in Effect December 22nd 2021

from BCRU

As of December 21, 2021, the Provincial Government of BC announced the following updated restrictions to the current Public Health Order that will come into effect at 11:59 PM on December 22, 2021 and are currently set to last until January 18, 2022.

– All adult gyms, fitness centres and dance studios are closed
– Indoor organized gatherings of any size are not allowed
– Bars, nightclubs and lounges are closed

As a result, indoor training, and gatherings inside Clubhouses are impacted. We ask you to follow the current PHO guidelines in place.

Furthermore, as of December 20, 2021, the following restrictions remain in place until January 31, 2022 at the earliest:

– All sports tournaments and related travel are cancelled

We are seeking clarification on what this means regarding the start of the 2022 Spring Season. We appreciate your patience as we await the updated, written PHO from the Provincial Government of BC, as well as further guidance from viaSport.

2022 Spring Senior Schedule Revisions

Given recent updates regarding the BC Public Health Order and updated Federal restrictions surrounding the Canada-USA border, we anticipate these changes will impact the start of the 2022 Spring Season schedules that were communicated last week.

We will be reaching out directly to those Clubs in the Men’s and Women’s Premier Leagues to discuss several options.

While we appreciate the uncertainty given these recent updates, and the resulting frustrations, safety remains our top priority and we are actively working on solutions.

NOTE: latest update on schedule as of Dec 21st 2021
