Ardron and Olmstead Looking Doubtful as Canada Prepare for Match in St. John’s
We had a call into camp HQ today and what we heard wasn’t the most encouraging news for Canadian rugby fans. It appears as if Tyler Ardron and Evan Olmstead won’t be leaving Europe to join the team in St. John’s, Newfoundland. This would apply to others plying their trade in Europe as well such as Tyler Duguid and perhaps Will Percillier. There’s still some negotiation ongoing with Percillier’s club but it’s wait and see on that.
There’s also some injury concerns which is why the roster announcement has now been pushed back to the end of the week. Kyle Baillie and Matt Heaton are typical of players who will be on the roster but may still be carrying injuries and may have to pass a late fitness test.
The impression is the roster for the USA game won’t look too much different from the one that recently toured to the UK with the potential addition of Baillie and Heaton.
It seems head coach Kingsley Jones won’t make his roster announcement until he’s 100% sure of player availability which includes testing players carrying injuries and allowing for any late returns from Europe.
So before Friday is the latest word. Stay tuned…
