Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team is making their BMO Field debut with The Rugby Rematch Tour, presented by Canadian Tire, facing off against world champion England on October 16, 2026, at BMO Field.
The last time Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team played in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) was 15 years ago against England in Oakville. The Rugby Rematch Tour, presented by Canadian Tire, gives Canadian fans the opportunity to relive the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 final and witness rugby’s biggest stars back on home soil for the kickoff of the domestic leg of the WXV Global Series tour in Canada.
Strong Demand Drives Phased Ticket Release Strategy
In anticipation of increased demand, tickets will be released through a structured, phased process designed to provide fans with a more streamlined and personal purchasing experience.
Fans are encouraged to register their interest via RugbyRematchTour.ca and indicate their preferred ticket options in advance. Registered fans will be contacted in stages and provided with dedicated purchase windows as inventory becomes available.
The WXV Global Series, unveiled by World Rugby and 18 national unions earlier this year, marks a transformative moment for the international women’s game. Designed to harness the growth of women’s rugby across the world, the competition creates certainty of fixtures, deepens international rivalries and lays a clear competitive pathway towards Women’s Rugby World Cup 2029.
“Last fall, 3.7 million Canadians tuned in to support Canada Women’s Rugby Team’s World Cup run. There’s a fierce appetite amongst Canadians to support our world-class rugby team, and we’re pleased to bring this match against the reigning world champions to Toronto.” said Nathan Bombrys, CEO of Rugby Canada. “With many of our players having roots in the GTA, we are also looking forward to connecting with the rugby community during our stay and inspiring the next generation of rugby players in the region. We are grateful to Canadian Tire for choosing to support Rugby Canada and The Rugby Rematch Tour. We would also like to thank the department of Economic Development and Culture at the City of Toronto, Province of Ontario, and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd (MLSE) for their support in making this event possible.”
“Toronto is proud to welcome Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team back after 15 years for The Rugby Rematch Tour against England at BMO Field,” said Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto. “This is a major international match for our city and a proud moment for women’s sport in Toronto. As we continue to emerge as a leader in women’s athletics, we’re excited to host this world-class event, bring fans together and inspire the next generation of athletes.”
Returning to Toronto may carry a wave of nostalgia for local players Asia Hogan-Rochester and Kiki Idowu as they revisit where their rugby journeys began, with a chance to play in front of friends, family, and the clubs that first inspired their dreams.
With the launch of The Rugby Rematch Tour this fall, Rugby Canada’s partnership with Canadian Tire Corporation underscores a shared commitment to elevating high-performance women’s sport across the country.
Rugby Canada and Rugby Ontario are collaborating to deliver a schedule of community events in the Toronto area leading up to the October 16 match that will be designed to create positive community impact.
“Rugby fans in the Greater Toronto Area have been craving international rugby – and their calls have been answered with a rematch of the 2025 Rugby World Cup Final,” said Myles Spencer, CEO of Rugby Ontario. “We’re excited to welcome world #1 England to Toronto and are expecting a packed BMO Field this October. Opportunities to cheer on Canada’s Women at home are rare, and I have no doubt this event will inspire many in our sport and those who are new to rugby.”
The second and final match of The Rugby Rematch Tour, presented by Canadian Tire will be announced shortly.
Canada’s WXV pre-tournament camp squad will be announced in August. All matches in The Rugby Rematch Tour, presented by Canadian Tire and Canada’s three September WXV European fixtures will be televised live by TSN.
Further details, including TSN broadcast specifics and media accreditation applications will be announced shortly.
