Sad News – Steve “Sanchez” Taylor Tragic Passing: Fundraising Page for Family
from Capilano media
It is with great sadness that we inform club members of the tragic passing of Steve “Sanchez” Taylor. Sanchez was tragically killed in the mudslide on Highway 99 last week. The Capilano Rugby Club offers its heartfelt condolences to the entire Taylor family. We will very much miss having Sanchez around Klahanie Park. A fundraising page has been set up to help the family and the link for this is posted below.
Sanchez joined the Capilano Rugby Club in 2020 after moving from Alberta. Many Capilano RFC members have also previously played with Sanchez with the Canadian Classics over the years. This Fall he has been playing with both the Capilano Sr. Men and the Snowcaps. Sanchez was a warrior on the field and a great teammate/mentor to all those who got to play with him.
The Capilano Sr. Men played at UBC on Saturday with a heavy heart after getting word of the loss of a teammate. A moment of silence was held for Sanchez before both of the Men’s game at UBC. The Snowcaps hosted the Twits on Sunday and the two teams raised a few thousand dollars to be donated to the Taylor family. A moment for Sanchez will be had at the beginning of the Capilano RFC AGM this Thursday.
