Rugby This Weekend: Tropical 7s, MLR Week 8, Canada U18 Camp, Singapore 7s

There’s no local rugby in BC this weekend as the leagues take the Easter Break, the playoffs start next weekend but there are BC and Canadian players in action around the globe.

Tropical 7s

Where are a lot of Canadian rugby youth this weekend? In Florida playing in the Tropical 7s. We didn’t put together a complete list of all Canadian teams but just looking at the Day 1 schedule in the morning we see MacDowell Rugby U18, The Rock U16, Queen’s University U23, Salish Sea (Shawnigan) U18, Upright Rugby U16, Toronto Reds U18, Saint John Trojans U18, Oshawa Vikings U16, Niagara Thunder U16, Tsunami Misfits U14, Eastern Ontario U18, Quebec U16 and that’s just before noon local time, 9am PDT. The schedule link is below. There’s a live stream but it may be pay per view.

Canada U18 Boys

The Canada U18 team are holding a camp in Abbotsford. The list of players hoping to make the July trip to the Netherlands is listed below.

Singapore 7s

The Singapore 7s starts tomorrow, with Canada kicking off against Fiji at 9:04pm PDT. They play Spain just after midnight on the west coast and Samoa at 4am. The matches are live streamed on CBC Sports.

There’s no change to the men’s roster, the women’s next tournament is Toulouse.
