Jacob Bossi Announced as 11th Signing for Vancouver Highlanders
Jacob Bossi has been named as the 11th Vancouver Highlanders signing. Jacob has been playing rep rugby since U16 when he represented BC at the national age-grade championships. He then went on to play Canada U18, Canada U20, the Pacific Pride and UBC.
Jacob Bossi was a member of the UBC team in November 2023 that claimed their 5th Canadian University Championship in 6 years. He was named to the 1st team All Stars at hooker. He’s since moved back to Victoria and is playing for CW in the BC Premier competition.
In the summer of 2023 he was named to the non-travelling reserves for Canada’s tour to Tonga. He had been playing rugby in NZ at the Spotswood Rugby Club in the Taranaki Premier. In the spring of 2023 he was the starting hooker for UBC when they won the BC Premier title.
In the fall of 2022 he again won the Canadian University Championship with UBC and was named to the 1st team All Stars at hooker. In the summer of 2022 he played with the Marlins 7s team. That summer he was part of the dominant Canada West squad that won the Coast to Coast Cup. In the spring of 2022 UBC won the BC Premier title again with Bossi as starting hooker.
In 2021 UBC won their 3rd Canadian University Championship and again Bossi was starting hooker. He was at the Canada U20 camp in the summer of ’21.
In the fall of 2020 we had this observation when looking at the Pacific Pride players for the season, “BOSSI Jacob – A standout in the Canada U20 tour to Portugal earlier this year. From Langford, played rugby at Cowichan and went to Brentwood School. Plays hooker and came through the Canada U18 program. “
In the winter of 2020 the Canada U20 team toured to Portugal with Canada winning the final match of the two game series, 48-20, and Bossi scored two tries in the game.
In the spring of 2019, Bossi was on the Canada U18 team that faced USA, with hosting at Brentwood College. Bossi was listed with Cowichan Rugby Club. He was a member of the Canada U18 team that toured to California in the winter of 2018. In the summer of 2018 he was playing for the BC U18 team at the Western Championships. In the spring of 2018 we had a preview of the Island high school finals submitted by Ian Hyde-Lay and this was his evaluation, “The AA championship pits long time rivals SMUS and Brentwood College. The Mill Bay crew, after an early April hiccup vs #1 Collingwood, has been in tremendous form, as evidenced by a comprehensive exhibition victory over the Blue Jags some three weeks ago. Captain Jose Gregorio, hooker Jacob Bossi and flanker Liam Mitchell have been consistently excellent, while scrum half Matt McDougall-Percillier serves a dangerous back division.” In the summer of 2017 Jacob was representing BC at the U16 level at the national championships.
