MLR 2025 – Round 9

MLR Week 9: 20 Canadian Players in Action, 13 Starting, 7 Reserve – Houston & Utah Top West, Chicago Top in East

There were 20 Canadian players in action in Week 9, 13 starters and 7 in reserve. Houston remains top in the West on total points but Utah have a game in hand and are top when considering points per match. Chicago are clear leaders in the East, leading in both categories.

New England 39 – San Diego 12

Starting for New England were Andrew Quattrin at hooker, Piers von Dadelszen at second row, Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti at scrum half, Ben Lesage at outside centre, Brock Webster on the wing. In the reserves were Josh Larsen and Isaac Olsen. San Diego had no Canadian players. Isaac Olsen subbed in for Ben Lesage from 4′ to 14′ and again at 40′. Andrew Quattrin scored tries at 19′ and at 43′. Josh Larsen subbed in at 60′ the second row going off. Andrew Quattrin was subbed off at 60′, Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti subbed off at 68′. Andrew Quattrin was top in ball carries, Brock Webster was top in defenders beaten and 2nd in metres made.

New Orleans 51 – Old Glory 29

NOLA didn’t have any Canadians in the roster. Old Glory had Cali Martinez as starting loosehead prop and Logan Weidner in the reserves. Cali Martinez subbed off at 45′, also at 45′ Logan Weidner subbed in with the openside flanker going off.

Miami 31 – Houston 22

Miami had Josiah Morra starting at wing, Guiseppe du Toit at outside centre and Shane O’Leary at fullback. Houston don’t have any Canadian players. It was Josiah Morra’s first game with Miami after leaving New England, reportedly on loan. Guiseppe du Toit scored a try at 14′ with Shane O’Leary converting. O’Leary converted a second Miami try at 28′ and kicked a penalty at 32′. Josiah Morra scored a try at 40′ with O’Leary converting. Guiseppe du Toit subbed off at 45′. Shane O’Leary kicked another conversion at 54′. Josiah Morra subbed off at 65′.

Utah 45 – LA 28

LA had Andrew Coe starting on the wing and Matt Heaton in the reserves. Utah had Nic Benn starting on the wing and Sam Reimer in the reserves. Andrew Coe scored a try at 26′. Matt Heaton subbed on at 47′. Sam Reimer came in at 75′ with the scrum half going off.

Chicago 28 – Anthem 20

Chicago had Mason Flesch at blindside flanker and Lucas Rumball at #8, in the reserves were Matt Oworu and Noah Flesch. Anthem didn’t have any Canadian players. Mason Flesch scored tries at 2′ and 42′. Matt Oworu subbed in at 74′, Noah Flesch subbed in at 78′ with the inside centre going off. Mason Flesch was the top tackler in the game with 22 tackles.
