BC Rugby Weekend of September 27th 2025

BC Premier Week 2 Results: UBC Drop Capilano, Burnaby Edge Bays, Westshore Win at Ravens, CW Fall at Meraloma – Coastal Cup and University Qualifier UVic Dominate at TWU

There are four BC Premier matches this weekend as teams bring back players from last season and introduce new players. The playing strength of the teams for the full season ahead is still fluid and the results this weekend will give a better idea of what lies ahead. Some national team players, XVs and 7s, start to filter in Andrew Coe, Rhys James, Kyle Tremblay, Kaden Duguid, Ethan Turner, Izzak Kelly, Talon McMullin, Jack Shaw, Noah Bain weren’t seen in Week 1. Also the Coastal Cup and University Qualifier between the Vikes and TWU kicks off with Cooper Coats getting his first start with the Vikes.

Canada v England – RWC 2025

Canada Win Silver at World Cup: Asia Hogan-Rochester Scores 2 Tries; Sophie de Goede World Rugby Player of the Year

Canada’s quick ruck style of play that got them to the final relies on winning the contact area and producing go forward ball, the England defence didn’t allow that and England dictated the style and pace of the match. Canada had won 100% of their scrums going into the match, England pushed the first Canada scrum backwards and sent a message that it would be power over speed on the day. Asia Hogan-Rochester scored both Canada tries and put Canada in the lead early on but England hit back minutes later on a missed tackle and a long range try. Canada would need the perfect game to end England’s winning streak and with the missed tackles and handling errors it wouldn’t be their day.

Officiating Updates – September 2025

So You Want to Become a World Rugby Citing Commissioner: Invitation for Candidates and Course Application

The Rugby Americas North (RAN) region is putting out an invitation for candidates who wish to apply to become a World Rugby Citing Commissioner. If you’re interested there’s two tasks to follow prior to October 6th, 2025. According to the RAN website, “candidates will be subsequently notified whether their application is successful or not.” The full RAN article is posted below, along with links to the application process. One of the course instructors is BC’s Bruce Kuklinski, a well known local referee and a World Rugby Citing Commissioner Educator. As his BC Rugby Hall of Fame profile notes, he “is one of the most successful and influential Rugby Officials that British Columbia has seen”.
