2024 BC Rugby Senior Club Finals Heading to Burnaby Lake

The BCRU has confirmed that the Burnaby Rugby Club will host the 2024 BC club finals on May 4th. There will be 8 championships decided from Premier down to Division 3. Ticket prices are listed at $20 at the venue, or $15 pre-event online.

Ravens Prevail in Entertaining Game Ravens 43 – Caps 28

On a miserable rainy day before a lively, full house crowd at Klahanie the Capilanos threw a scare into the Ravens before the visitors pulled away for the win in the last 20 minutes. It was a quality game and Raven fullback Nick Blain after the game commented that it was one of the toughest games they’ve had all season. Kudos to the Caps for ignoring the record and continuing to play good rugby.

Canada’s 1932 Tour to Japan: Official Souvenir Book and the Mystery of the Missing Nippon Maple Leaf Cup

The 1932 tour wasn’t the first Canadian rugby tour but it was the first tour under the auspices of the Rugby Union of Canada, which was formed in 1929. The tour booklet makes mention of the 1902-1903 tour to the UK which was the first Canada tour, it also references the 1930 incoming Japan tour to BC which acted as a foundation for this 1932 tour.

BC Rugby Weekend of March 23rd 2024

BC Premier Week 12 Results and Rosters: Lomas Hold Off Burnaby, UBC Defeat Bays, Vikes Edge CW, Pride Fall to Westshore, Ravens Top Caps

There are 3 weeks left in the regular season with 7 teams battling for 6 playoff spots. The Caps and Bays have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, the Ravens and Lomas look on track to capture the top two quarter-final byes (pending this weekend’s Burnaby v Lomas result) and home field semi-finals. Burnaby look safe in 3rd with CW, Westshore, UBC and UVic battling for the 3 remaining spots.

Now that the week 12 scores are in, not much has changed except the race for the final 3 playoff spots tightens up, CW, Westshore, UBC, UVic continue to be locked in a battle with one team destined to lose out. The Lomas and Ravens look assured of quarter-final byes and home field semis and Burnaby are now locked in for at least 3rd place and a home field quarter-final.
