A Look at the UVic Roster for the Coastal Cup

UVic finished 2nd in the 2023 Coastal Cup behind the Pacific Pride. They ended with a 3-2 record, defeating TWU twice, UBC once and losing to the Pride twice. They open up at home on Saturday against the Pacific Pride.

Players who are eligible for the Canada U20 team are born 2005 or after. The Vikes have 15 players from 2005 and 13 players from 2006. Most notable are the returning players from the 2024 Canada U20 team who will be eligible again in 2025, Brighton Feldman who was dominant at tighthead prop against the USA, Matt Bennett who ran the backline as flyhalf, Morgan di Nardo who was the danger man outside for Canada.

The team sees the return of most of the starting tight five from last year, Phoenix Moller, Nic Willey, Merlin M’Cloud and Brendan Kim. In the loose forwards Muiredach Casey, Jordy Auger, Ryder Heaney-Corns return. The Gamage brothers are back to cover the halfback positions and Angus Boyd-Porter returns as a flyhalf option.  In the centres Dylan Cleaver, Josh McIndoe,  Lockhart MacGregor are returning. The team looks to be a good mix of returning veterans and U20 eligible players.

Head coach is Scott Manning and assistants are Dustin Dobravsky and Casey Reed.
