Thunder Win Westshore 7s Defeating Host Team in Final: Match Videos
The Vancouver Island Thunder defeated the Okanagan Coos in the semi-final and then the host Westshore in the final. Westshore had defeated the Marlins, winners of the Kelowna 7s, in the other semi in extra time. The tournament MVP would have to be Grady Bowd, he’s an exceptional talent.
The men’s U18 title was won by CW over the Minnows, the Academy side of the Marlins. The women’s U18 title was won by the Thunder.

*Westshore 7s on Saturday: Kelowna 7s Winner Marlins; Bayside 7s Winner Ravens; Thunder Enters Strong Team – Who Will Have BC Bragging Rights for Summer of 2022*
There are seven teams entered into the senior men’s competition at the Westshore 7s and two of them have claimed tournament titles this year in BC.
The Marlins, a Pacific Pride Academy team, won the Kelowna 7s defeating BC and Ravens. The Ravens claimed the Bayside 7s title last weekend. Then there’s the Thunder team organized by Crosby Stewart and including some high profile names like Grady Bowd and Mike Fuailefau – and legend Phil Mack may make a cameo appearance. The Coos from Kelowna, organized by Cam Pierce, always have some surprise talent. Westshore are entering two teams and Nanaimo is entering one team. It should be a great day of summer 7s.
There’s a youth tournament as well featuring teams at the U16 and U18 level.
The schedule and some of the rosters are posted below.
