*Former Rugby Canada CEO Graham Brown Parts Ways with U SPORTS*
Graham Brown who was CEO of Rugby Canada from 2002 to 2015 has parted ways with U SPORTS. He left Rugby Canada to take the CEO position with U SPORTS in 2015.
“Graham Brown is out as President and CEO of U Sports. Brown was hired in that role with the Canadian university sport governing body in 2015 and has been on a leave for the last number of months” according to one source
Brown had mixed results in his term with Rugby Canada, growing the size of the organization but overseeing some dubious decisions on the rugby side of the ledger.
Memo sent to U SPORTS Member
Dear members,
I hope this finds all of you and your families well and healthy.
I am writing to let you know that today we announced the departure of Graham Brown, CEO, and the immediate appointment of Dick White, who will serve as interim CEO of U SPORTS.
Many of you know Dick, and will be familiar with the decades of experience he brings to U SPORTS, most recently as the Director of Athletics at the University of Regina, along with numerous leadership roles on a volunteer basis with Canadian athletics organizations. He has been highly involved with U SPORTS for many years through several leadership positions with our board and its supporting committees.
His deep experience in university sport, combined with his knowledge of our organization, makes Dick well-equipped to help us all navigate the unprecedented COVID-19 environment.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and all of us at U SPORTS, I extend a warm welcome to Dick. We are excited to have him on board.
U SPORTS has always, and will always be, a progressive, forward-looking organization. Over the past few years, weve gone through a significant transformation and are now better positioned than ever to be a progressive facilitator and advocate for university sports.
As we continue to reckon with the profound impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on university athletics and sports, U SPORTS remains entirely focused on what is important to us: increasing the visibility and recognition of university sport across Canada and providing outstanding environments and opportunities for student-athletes to achieve their full academic and athletic potential.
If you have any questions, I encourage you to please reach out to Lisa Beatty (lbeatty@usports.ca).
Please join me in welcoming Dick to our leadership team.
Stay well and stay safe,
