Island Crimson Tide Match Roster and Ontario Blues Travel Roster Announced

The Island Tide have published a 28 player list for Sunday’s match against Ontario Blues. The Blues have also published their travel roster. The match kicks off at 4:15 pm at UVic’s Wallace Field, the senior women’s west camp also have an intrasquad match prior at 2:30 pm.

There are some potential interesting matchups, in the front row Emerson Prior and Theo Espagnol up against Matt Tierney and Djustice Sears-Duru. Ontario having the veteran advantage here, it will be interesting to see how the Tide handle the pressure. A number of Ontario players are well known in BC, the Pride players Jaiden John and James Stockwood would make a strong second row combination. Stephen Webb just coming off a strong season with UBC up against Brock Gallagher, that will be a top level scrum-half battle. At #10 Gradyn Bowd vs Will Kelly is a possibility although we don’t know the Ontario match selection yet. It’s good to see Josh Thiel back after spending some time in France.

We’ll post another article when we know the Ontario match 23. This is apparently the starting XV for the Tide but we don’t know how the bench is going to work, are they playing an extended bench or sticking to a match 23? Ontario are travelling with 28, they might want a full 28 extended roster to evaluate combinations before the two game series against a full BC team.
