Burnaby Lake v UBC @ Burnaby Lake Rugby Club @ 2:30
Ref: Saro Turner AR: Rachel Morrison, Jack Webster
# 8 hosting #6. Burnaby at 1-4, UBC at 3-2. These teams met in September at UBC and it was a close +10 win for UBC as their superior fitness paid off in the last quarter.
UBC have qualified for the university nationals and that’s evident as they’re resting some of their top players. 14 changes to the starting 15 compared to the match last weekend against UVic.
Burnaby have a stable roster, Anthony Carroll makes his first return to the roster since September as starting scrum half. Ethan Turner, Canada 7s player is in the centres, there’s a few Fijian flyers in the roster, Napolioni Bolaca at fullback is one to watch.
UBC would normally be favourites but they’ve made huge changes to the roster, likely resting up some of the 1st string for the university nationals and checking out some of the reserve players. It’s setting the platform for a potential upset. Prediction: Burnaby by +2.

UVic v Westshore @ Wallace Field @ 2:30
Ref: Malcolm Klaver AR: Juan Rey, Kenneth Yee
#7 hosting #3. Westshore at 4-1, UVic at 2-2. Westshore coming off a big win over CW, UVic defeating UBC last weekend.
Westshore with only a couple of changes from last week, both in the back three. Alex Mentiply starts on the wing and Matt Bennett at fullback. It’s a good roster but not the same one that took down the defending champion Ravens two weeks ago, missing from that roster are Matt Oworu, Jesse Kilgour, Kyle Tremblay, Joe Kingham.
UVic taking the opposite approach to UBC as they missed the university championship, as UBC are resting players, UVic are doubling down. Cooper Coats and Josh McIndoe starting and Morgan Di Nardo makes his first appearance this season as the national 7s team gets prepared for the Dubai tournament in November. He starts on the bench as he eases into action after returning from injury. Only two changes to the starting XV that beat UBC, Robert Reid is out and Jaxson Jones replaces him at openside flanker, Spencer Cotie gets the start on the wing.
Again another upset on the cards. Last time Westshore faced Cooper Coats was the quarter-finals last year, he won that matchup +19 and UVic ended making the finals, just losing to the Ravens. Coats is the key to this match, he’s the #1 flyhalf in the country, can Westshore contain him and put him under pressure? Prediction: UVic by +3.

The Lomas rotate some of their front row, Alex Tagg returns to the roster and starts at openside flanker.

Capilano v Castaway Wanderers @ Klahanie Park @ 2:30
Ref: Shanda Assmus AR: Justyn Roberts, Phil Webster
#4 hosting #11, Caps, 4-1, coming off a bye week, CW, 1-4, lost big to Westshore last week.
The big addition for CW this week is the return of Ethan Hager in the centres. Players hoping to make the national 7s team for November are starting to show up this week in the rosters, some returning from injury. It was Week 3 when Hager was last in the roster.
Caps have Arthur Greene back in the starting roster at lock. Demetri Patterson missing as he was called up to the national XVs side, he’s replaced by Harrison Mason. Veteran Chris Robinson missing, likely preparing for the World Classics in Bermuda, Canada’s first match is November 7th vs USA. He’s replaced by Will Dormaar.
Caps at home go in as favourites. Prediction: Capilano by +8.

Ravens v Bayside Sharks @ Jericho Rugby Park @ 2:30
Ref: Bradley Schwalger AR: George Van, Joel Van Meer
#1 hosting #9. Ravens at 4-1, Bayside at 1-4.
Ravens with a few tbd in their 4 to 6 spots on PlayHQ, they don’t have anything out on social media at the time of writing. Lucas Rumball off with the national team in Europe, Drew Denford takes the openside flanker spot. Lockie Kratz moves to #10 this match. They have a strong backline with the likes of Josiah Morra and Andrew Coe in the starting XV. Update: Just as I’m ready to post, the Ravens update their roster on Instagram, all positions accounted for now.
Bayside missing Izzak Kelly as he’s with the national team in Europe. Veteran Sanaila Dawai starts at #8. Again a lot of tbd in the roster on PlayHQ, nine to be exact, nothing on social media. Are they struggling with numbers or just haven’t decided who is playing where?
Ravens obvious favourites here, it would be a huge upset if Bayside could get the W on the road, don’t see it happening. Prediction: Ravens by +10.
