BC Club Finals Results and Match Videos: UBC Win Men’s and Women’s Premier Title, Ravens Claim Men’s Div 1 Title, Burnaby Lake Women’s Div 1 Title

The BC Club finals are this weekend hosted by Bayside at South Surrey Athletic Park. There are four men’s titles on the line this Saturday and three women’s titles.

Canada Summer Tests 2022

Rugby Canada Announce Test Match Against Belgium for Men; Italy and Wales for Women; Also Men to Face French Barbarians

This is what it looks like when you don’t qualify for the World Cup, one test match against 27th ranked Belgium this summer. The men also get a game against the French Barbarians. The Belgium match is hosted in Halifax and the French Barbarians match is in Ottawa.

BC High School 7s Tournament Summary, Standings and Tournament Team Selections

We’re Back! Fantastic weekend out in sunny White Rock which hosted the Junior and Senior Boys BC Open 7’s tournaments. The Shark Tank at South Surrey Athletic Park, home of the Bayside Sharks, was the host for the weekend. The new clubhouse is eagerly awaiting final occupancy from the city, so it kind of sits there, gorgeous, as a total tease for the viewer. It will play host to the BC Club Finals on May 7th, so this was a great dry run for the club. (A little background: During Covid the BC School Sports Membership had a vote, which passed, for BC School Sports to govern each sport. In the case of rugby basically removed BC Secondary Schools Rugby Union from governance. On April 20th the deadline was set for teams to declare for a 7’s or XV’s season. After the declaration teams could not play the opposite code with the exception of the BC Open 7’s tournament on April 29th/30th/ 1st )

On a good day for rugby at Jericho some hopes were fulfilled and others dashed as the prems’ hearts were broken at the end and the Rippers secured a victory late in the game with a stunning interception while Abby was on the boil and the Rips down to 13 men.

BC Club Finals Schedule: Seven Division Finals Hosted by Bayside RFC

With all 14 Finalists now confirmed, the full seven-match schedule is now confirmed for the 2022 Senior Club Finals this Saturday, May 7, 2022, taking place at South Surrey Athletic Park – the home of Bayside Sharks RFC who will be looking to make the most of their home field advantage in their two Championship matches.

Rugby ATL 19 v LA Giltinis 31 @ Silverbacks Park

Atlanta are 2nd in the East. Matt Heaton starts at openside flanker, Conor Keys is in the reserves.

LA are 2nd in the West. Corey Thomas starts at blindside flanker, Ben LeSage is outside centre. Lindsey Stevens is reserve hooker.

Matt Heaton scored a try for Atlanta.

Canada 7s in Langford – 2022

Canada Finish 5th in Langford With 2-1 Day 2 – Krissy Scurfield Nominated for Tournament Dream Team – Full Match Videos

It was the best tournament for Canada this season as they earned 12 points for their 5th place finish. They lost to NZ in their first match of Day 2 but then defeated Fiji and USA, two tough opponents, to claim 5th place.

An upset from the Oak Bay based team as they apparently won it on the last play of the game. It sounds like a thriller and we look forward to reading Peter MacDonald’s match report. They’ll face UBC in the final.

Ravens Move On: Ravens 19 – Rowers 10

After another long layoff rugby resumed at Jericho with the #2 seed Ravens hosting the #7 seed Rowers in a quarterfinal matchup. The Ravens, missing a few of its leading players through injury and for personal reasons, were fortunate to get the win as it was a hard fought even game that definitely could have turned out differently. It was not a Picasso but a win is a win as they say.
