BC High School Rugby – April 2024

BC High School Rugby Season in BC: How to Get Your Match Published on BCRN

The BC High School Rugby season is in full swing but unfortunately, unlike before, there’s not a central collection point for scores and matches. The bcssru.com used to provide that info but BC School Sports has taken over all sports and they don’t publish upcoming matches or results. They provide Provincials information but that’s about it. They actually started doing a ranking for Ultimate Frisbee, but haven’t started one for rugby yet. You may want to contact them to find out why. Their Twitter account is @BCSchoolSports

The best way to share high school matches and results is through Twitter, it’s easy for us to embed posts on the website, unlike Instagram which generates a lot of code for embedding.

Here is the latest tweet from St. George’s, easy to retweet and include in the website. Make sure to tag @BCRugbyNews in your posts so we see it.

Here is an example from Instagram, from photographer Gord Rufh, it’s more work to embed an Instagram post but we can do it, again the only reason we saw it was because we were tagged.

If you want to announce an upcoming match or a recent result we suggest you create a graphic and post to Twitter, tag us and once a week during rugby season, we’ll embed the posts.

Here is the information from BC School Sports on the Provincials, their website divides rugby into Boys and Girls, here are the links:

BCRN Rugby Balls Program

We’ve been giving away rugby balls to schools (6 at a time) if they request them and we can find a way to get the balls from Victoria without shipping costs. We took some balls down to Victoria High School to give to the newly formed girls program coached by Corey Payne. Also we found a way to get balls to Douglas Smith in Burnaby for his programs (thanks to Dale Grimston travelling from Westshore to Burnaby), he sent us a photo of Terry Fox and Alpha/Moscrop. Contact editor@bcrugbynews.com if your school needs rugby balls and we’ll see if we can figure a way to get them to you through rugby contacts travelling your way.
