BC High School Rugby – April 2025

Feature on Collingwood Rugby: Match vs Carson Graham on Saturday, Return from NZ/AUS Tour

It’s always interesting to learn about the BC high school programs, their history and who is leading the programs now. Collingwood just returned from a successful tour to New Zealand and Australia over the spring break. This was their 17th tour and they took 57 players, a junior U16 team and a 1st XV and 2nd XV at the senior level.

Leading the programs are Senior Coaches Aaron Takel, Tom Larisch, Dave Speirs and Junior Coaches Evan Hall, Liam Murray, Gareth Ronald-Jones. There were 5 game days against Massey High School (Auckland), Central Coast Grammar (NSW), Lindisfarne Anglican School (NSW), Somerset College (QLD), Matthew Flinders Anglican School (QLD). The juniors won all their matches and the 1st XV had wins against Lindisfarne and Flinders.

You can watch the team in action this Saturday as they take on another prominent North Shore school, Carson Graham. The match is at Klahanie Park at 12:30pm. There’s more information below on the history of their rugby program in a piece written by David Speirs for the Collingwood newsletter, The Bridge.
