BC Announce Men’s and Women’s Teams for U19 Canadian Championship in Nova Scotia July 29-August 4
BC will hope to return to their glory years when they dominated the national men’s U19 scene. Looking at our archives from July 2017 the headlines read “BC three-peat as National U19 champions defeating arch rivals Ontario. Curry Hitchborn the UBC forwards coach runs the program, he’s definitely a coach who gets results”.
In 2018 BC came 3rd behind Ontario and Atlantic. In 2019 there was no national championship but a Western championship and an Eastern Championship, BC won the Western championship. The championship was cancelled for two years, 2020, 2021 due to Covid. BC won the 2022 championship and came 3rd in 2023 when a strong Atlantic team took Gold.
On the women’s side, Quebec are defending champions and have historically done well in the tournament. BC came last in 2023 with an 0-4 record so will be looking to improve on that performance.
