Highlanders Defeat Brazil XV 77-7 in 11 Try Performance: Match Video
It was running, attacking rugby at its finest as the Highlanders backline players accounted for 10 of the 11 tries. It was no secret early on that the game plan was to spread the ball wide and the Highlanders did so successfully with outside centre Melani Nanai providing the key link to wingers Nico Leonard and D’Shawn Bowen. Between the three players they accounted for 7 tries. Mike Moloney was 11 for 11 on conversions.
Jake Thiel and Mike Devlin did a commendable job on commentary and the live stream broadcast was the best the Highlanders have put out to date. Next up for the Highlanders will be a match against Canada XV on August 17th.

Tupis XV and Vancouver Highlanders duel this Saturday in Canada, with YouTube live
The Brazilian Men’s Rugby Development XV Team will face the Canadian team Vancouver Highlanders this Saturday, the 3rd, in a friendly match in Canada, with live broadcast on the Highlanders’ YouTube channel at 9pm (Brasília time)
Tupis XV, the Tupis development team, will take to the field this Saturday in Vancouver, Canada, to face the new Canadian professional team, the Vancouver Highlanders. Created this year and bringing together local athletes (some with national team experience), the Highlanders recently played Germany 30-26 and will continue their first series of friendlies against Brazil. Brazil sent a squad to Canada that mixes players who have already played for the main Tupis with young talents, offering international experience to more athletes.
“We need to offer more quality international games to more athletes. This year, we started working with the Tupis Academy, with a group of young athletes who train at NAR, in São Paulo. The goal of the Tupis XV is to give playing time to athletes who are already on the main squad, but who have not been playing enough, and to offer valuable experiences to athletes who have recently left the Curumins [the youth team],” said Josh Reeves, technical director of High Performance at Brasil Rugby and coach for this match. “We also brought in older athletes who have played for Tupis in the past and who are returning to offer experience to the squad, in addition to bringing them closer to the system,” he concluded.
The Brazilian lineup will be announced on Friday and the game will be shown on Saturday at 9pm Brasília time (5pm Vancouver local time).
