Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 9 – Ten Canadians in Action

The PWR restarted their season after the winter break and there were 10 Canadians in action over 5 teams. The Saracens with a large Canadian contingent had a bye this week and several players such as Fancy Bermudez, Olivia Apps, Sabrina Poulin are with the 7s team on the Singapore and Perth tournaments. Missing from the lineups were some high profile players Alex Tessier and Julia Schell. Chloe Daniels made her first appearance after signing with the Bristol Bears. The results, standings and this weekend’s matches are listed below.

Chloe Daniels Signs With Bristol Bears in the PWR: Brings Total to 25 Canadian Players in English Pro League

Chloe Daniels is the latest Canadian 7s/XVs player to join the Premiership Women’s Rugby competition in England. She’ll be joining Holly Phillips and Pam Buisa in Bristol. Bristol are currently in 8th place in the standings, the league restarts on January 30th. Daniels was a member of the Canadian 7s Olympic team that won Silver in 2024. She went to Queen’s University to play in the 2024-25 USports season but picked up an ACL injury which put her into an extended period of recovery. She was awarded the Queen’s “Outstanding Performance of the Year” in April 2025 for exceptional performance on the international stage.

Premier Women’s Rugby – December 2025 – Round 8

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 8 – 9 Canadians in Action

The PWR wrapped up their season until January 30th. There were 9 Canadians in action with Fancy Bermudez, Olivia Apps and Alysha Corrigan crossing the line for tries. Exeter with 5 Canadians in the roster had a bye week and there are still some injuries, including Sophie de Goede who shared her injury status on social media, “Last couple months have been frustrating, ones dealing with a cartilage defect in my right knee requiring surgery round 3, feels like this one moment a year and a half ago is still holding me down and rehab won’t let me out of its grips, trusting the process and my body though, and looking forward to getting back to doing what I love most asap.” We’re all wishing the best for Sophie on her recuperation.

Premier Women’s Rugby – December 2025 – Round 7

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 7 – 13 Canadians in Action

There’s one week of PWR action left before the winter break, the season recommences January 30th. There were 13 Canadians in action, one less than last week. Most of the Canadians, 10, were in one match Exeter v Saracens. There are still a number of Canadians not showing up in the match day rosters, Sophie de Goede, Fancy Bermudez, Laetitia Royer, Julia Schell, Claire Gallagher are a few of the prominent players missing from this week’s rosters.

Premier Women’s Rugby – December 2025 – Round 6

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 6 – 14 Canadians in Action

With the BC Leagues on winter break until January 24th, the largest concentration of Canadians playing rugby right now is in the women’s Premier league in England. In October we counted 23 Canadians in the league, we’ve found out two more are heading over from the 7s program, Asia Hogan-Rochester (Sale) and Pam Buisa (Bristol).

Women’s English Premier – PWR Week 2

PWR Week 2 – Thirteen Canadians in Rosters Over Four Matches

There were 13 Canadian players in action in the English PWR over the weekend. Sophie de Goede and Gabrielle Senft were missing from the Saracens rosters but Exeter used all their 5 Canadians with Alexandra Tessier getting the starting fullback role. Fancy Bermudez was in the reserves for Loughborough. Saracens had four Canadians starting Corrigan, Omokhuale, Royer, Apps with Farries in the reserves. Sara Svoboda for Harlequins and Holly Phillips for Bristol both got starting roles. Ealing with 7 Canadians had a bye week. Gloucester and Bristol are the only undefeated teams early in the season.

Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) Kicks Off in UK This Weekend: 23 Canadian Players on Rosters

There are 23 Canadian players on 7 teams in the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) league. The largest contingent of players are on the Saracens and Trailfinders, both teams have 7 Canadians. Exeter have 4,  Loughborough, Harlequins, Bristol all have 1. Teams without Canadians are Leicester, Sale [see update note below].

Regular Season Ends in PWR: Look at Week 18 – Semi-Finals This Weekend

Week 18 was the final regular season weekend and this coming weekend will see only four teams in action for the semi-finals. Rori Wood and Gabby Senft made the team of the week for the final regular season of fixtures. This coming weekend will see #1 Gloucester-Hartpury host #4 Bristol and #2 Saracens host #3 Harlequins in the semi-finals.
