UBC Defeat #9 Ranked CWU, 16 Canadian Women in Round 14 of English Premier, Six Nations Starts January 31st – Schedule Posted

This is a rugby wrapup for the weekend of January 18th 2025. The BC Rugby leagues resume next weekend in most divisions except Premier which is February 1st. UBC toured down to Washington State for an exhibition match. The PWR, Premiership Women’s Rugby, in the UK wrapped up Round 14 with 16 Canadians in action. We have more details on those below. Coming up on the horizon is the Six Nations, and yes for members, we will putting them up for download, as we have since 2016. The Six Nations schedule is posted below.

Round Twelve Results from English Premier: 12 Canadian Players in Action

Rori Wood got her first start at tighthead for Ealing, Tyson Beukeboom was 2nd row, Julia Schell started at #10 for the Trailfinders. Julia Omokhuale started at blindside flanker for Leicester, Claire Gallagher started at fullback for the Tigers. Loughborough had Krissy Scurfield on the wing, she scored two tries, Abby Duguid at second row, Courtney Holtkamp was in the reserves at #19. Saracens had McKinley Hunt as starting loosehead prop, Gabby Senft at #8, Alysha Corrigan on the wing and Maya Montiel as reserve prop.

Fancy Bermudez Latest Canadian Signed to Contract in English Premier League

Fancy Bermudez was the latest Canadian to be signed to a contract in the Allianz Premier, the top women’s competition in England. Fancy will play with the Saracens. Announced prior to that was Krissy Scurfield moving to the Loughborough Lightning and Gabby Senft going to Saracens.

Round 11 Wrapup: McKinley Hunt with Hat Trick for Saracens; Claire Gallagher a Brace for Leicester; Sophie de Goede Back with Canada 7s

Saracens remained top of the table after week 11 although Gloucester in second have a game in hand on the leaders. Standout Canadians were McKinley Hunt for Saracens who scored a hat trick of tries and Claire Gallagher of Leicester who scored a brace and also had her intercept try selected as the Try of the Week.

Claire Gallagher Scores Try for Leicester Tigers on Starting Debut

The Canadian highlight in Round 9 of the England Women’s Premiership was Claire Gallagher’s try in her starting debut for Leicester Tigers. Claire usually plays #10 for Canada but was slotted in at #12 for Leicester. She came into the Leicester side last weekend and had a spot in the reserves. Her try was voted the league Try of the Week. This is the first win for the Leicester side in nine matches.
