Saracens Dominant in Championship Win Over Trailfinders: Ten Canadians in Final

The Saracens featuring six starting Canadian players were dominant in their march to the championship title in the English Premier Women’s competition. Julia Omokhuale was selected player of the match and she opened the scoring for the Saracens at the 12′  mark. The Sarries were ahead 33-0 at the half and it was basically game over. Alysha Corrigan scored the first try of the second half and it was 38-0. Maya Montiel scored the Trailfinder’s first try 8′ into the second half to make it 38-7 but Saracens added two more tries to the Trailfinder’s one to cruise to victory, 52-14. PWR Semi-Finals: Fourteen Canadian Players in Action
Ealing Trailfinders Upset Last Season Champions Gloucester, Saracens Come From Behind to Edge Exeter

There were fourteen Canadian players in action in the PWR semi-finals on Sunday. Ealing Trailfinders upset last season’s champions Gloucester-Hartpury in one semi-final 29-26, the Trailfinders had four Canadians in the roster, Gloucester had none. In the other semi-final Saracens, with six Canadians, came from behind to edge Exeter (four Canadians) 40-38 with PWR Player of the Year, Olivia Apps, scoring two tries. Olivia Apps was named the PWR Player of the Season, quite an honour for a Canadian player playing in the top women’s league in England. Apps has become the top Canadian player this year leading both the national 7s and XVs team.

Premier Women’s Rugby – June 2026 – Round 17

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 17 – Eighteen Canadians in Action

There’s still one round of pool play left in the PWR but the top four team participating in the playoffs have already been determined, Gloucester, Saracens, Exeter, Trailfinders. The Canadian players who are not playoff bound have been released to the national 7s team this week. #1 Gloucester suffered their first defeat this weekend, to #4 Trailfinders, a team they may meet in the semi-finals. There were 18 Canadians in action in Round 17. Paige Farries scored a hat trick of tries in the Saracens win.

Premier Women’s Rugby – March 2026 – Round 16

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 16 – Thirteen Canadians in Action

The PWR are on a break until the end of May when they’ll resume Round 17. There will be two rounds of play and then the playoffs among the top four. This is a recap of the Round 16, the last round before the international break. There were 13 Canadian players with Exeter having a bye. Sophie de Goede finally got on the field after a prolonged recuperation period, she played the last quarter of the match. Julia Schell is still missing from the roster, we did some digging on that and saw this announcement from the Trailfinders in November after Round 5 “we can confirm that Julia Schell has sustained injuries to her anterior cruciate ligament in last weekend’s fixture against Saracens.” All the best to Julia on her recovery. We marked below beside each player a XVs or 7s to denote whether they were selected for the Pacific Four XVs or the Hong Kong 7s. Fourteen players were selected for Pacific Four and four players for Hong Kong 7s.

There were eleven Canadian players in action this past weekend, missing were key players Alex Tessier, Sabrina Poulin, Julia Schell, Chloe Daniels. The Saracens with seven Canadian players in the roster had a bye week. Scoring tries this week were Pam Buisa, Daleaka Menin, Fancy Bermudez. There’s one more round before the April break for international matches.

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 14 – Sixteen Canadians in Action

There were 16 Canadian players in action last weekend in the PWR. Asia Hogan-Rochester scored a try. Bristol with 3 Canadian players had a bye week. Sophie de Goede is still recuperating from injury, 13 weeks ago she posted on social media, “cartilage defect in my right knee requiring surgery round 3”. It’s unclear when she’ll be back. There’s two more rounds before the April break and the Pacific Four tournament preparation begins.

There were thirteen Canadians in the rosters this week with Olivia Apps and Sabrin Poulin scoring tries. There are three weeks left before the league takes a break in April for international rugby, Six Nations and Pacific Four. The top four teams make post season play and at the current time that would be Saracens, Gloucester, Exeter and Harlequins.

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 12 – Eighteen Canadians in Action

It was Round 12 of the PWR in England, there were 18 Canadian players in action. There are six more rounds before the semi-finals with the top four teams participating. It looks as if Saracens and Gloucester will be in that top 4 with Exeter, Harlequins and Trailfinders battling for the remaining two spots. Sophie de Goede and Olivia Apps were missing from the Saracens roster, de Goede is returning from injury while Apps may possibly be headed back for the 7s in Vancouver in just over a week’s time.

Premier Women’s Rugby – February 2026 – Round 11

Update on the English Premier Women’s Rugby (PWR) Round 11 – Sixteen Canadians in Action

The women’s English Premiership just wrapped Round 11 last weekend and there were 16 Canadian players in action. Exeter had the largest contingent with all 5 of their players in the roster, next were Saracens and Ealing with 3 of the 7 Canadians in action. Still some big names missing like Sophie de Goede and Julia Schell. There’s still 5 weeks left before the April break for the Pacific Four tournament. Gloucester remains top of the standings with Saracens in 2nd and Exeter and Harlequins trailing. The top 4 teams go into the semi-finals in June.
