Canada grew into the game as Wales put them under pressure early and took an early 3-0 lead. Canada took over the rest of the match except for the last 10 minutes as substitutions seemed to interupt Canada’s dominance and Wales started to press again. The Canadian defence held firm and the final was 31-3.

It was a good snapshot of where Canada are now with the World Cup in the fall. They’re ranked 4th which is a pretty accurate evaluation. England look favourites to win the World Cup, New Zealand are trying to close the gap and they were the class of this tournament. France defeated NZ twice last fall in France.

[ed. I remember when Francois Ratier ran the women’s XVs, he would always get in touch when holding a camp on the Island. His open style of communication was refreshing and of course Canada went on to win silver at the 2014 World Cup under his direction. Now it’s more of a closed shop, no training schedule, no advance notice to media, no photo ops.]

Canadas Senior Womens 15s faced Wales at Cardiff Arms Park on November 21st, earning a 24-7 win in their final Fall fixture, presented by DHL Rugby. Canada overcame a first half red card and put forth a dominant second half of play to collect their third win from four matches this Fall.
It was no surprise that #1 England would dominate, they’re far ahead of the pack based on recent results. England defeated NZ 56-15 last weekend which would put Canada on par with #2 NZ in terms of comparison. France #4 may actually be the on form team for second as they defeated NZ 38-13 on the weekend.
