D’Shawn Bowen Announced as 13th Signing for Vancouver Highlanders

D’Shawn Bowen has been named as the 13th Vancouver Highlanders signing. He has represented Canada on the World Rugby 7s series, at the 7s World Cup and Commonwealth Games. He has played for Canada ‘A’, the Pacific Pride and for the Toronto Arrows of the MLR.

D’Shawn currently plays with the JBAA team in the BC Premier. He was a non-travelling reserve for the La Vila tournament in Spain in October 2023 and was named to the Canada team for the tour to Tonga in August.

D’Shawn played with the Toronto Arrows of the MLR in 2023 season and was selected to the MLR First XV Team of the Week on one occasion. Overall he had 8 starts for the Arrows that season and 2 appearances off the bench. 2023 was a busy year for Bowen, in January he was on the Canada 7s team, by February he was back with the Pacific Pride and then by March he was in the MLR with Toronto.

In 2022 he played for the national 7s team, he also made the long list for the XVs team travelling to Europe for tests against the Netherlands and Namibia. In October he made the Canada ‘A’ squad that travelled to South America for matches against Brazil and Chile. In September he was on the Canada 7s team at the Rugby 7s World Cup and in July he represented Canada at the Commonwealth Games in 7s. He started the year with the Pacific Pride in the BC Premier league and was called up to the national 7s squad in April.

D’Shawn played for the Pacific Pride in the 2019-20 season. In 2018 he played for the Ontario Blues in the Canadian Rugby Championship, listed with the Kingston Panthers.

Curry Hitchborn of the Highlanders had this to add on social media, “If you know, you know. D’Shawn is a dangerous man on the pitch and he’s going to be putting defenders to the sword this summer.”
