The James Bay Athletic Association is located in Victoria BC and has been promoting and supporting amateur sport on the island since 1886.
The club intends to add senior womens rugby to its rugby program for the 2021-22 season. Our senior womens program is meant to provide a visible pathway for female youth graduating from our junior program and offer opportunities for women to play senior rugby at JBAA.
GOALS
In keeping with JBAAs stated values of Family, Integrity and Accountability the womens head coach will work as part of a club wide coaching effort to promote inclusion, commitment and participation as key to building healthy athletes, and teams, prepared to be successful on, and off, the field.
This candidate will be responsible for the senior womens rugby program including at least twice weekly training sessions and weekly games. The successful candidate will work to help junior and new-to-the-sport athletes bridge to senior play, as well as offer a rewarding opportunity for experienced players.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The womens head coach will be responsible for creating an energetic and engaging team environment for our senior women rugby players, while working with the coaching support team. This team includes all senior coaches, junior coaches, medical staff, team managers and club executive.
Specific duties the candidate will need to oversee:
Promoting and evaluating the skill, talent, and fitness of players.
Providing player feedback in regard to promotions, team selections for game days, skills, fitness.
Preparing weekly training sessions and making team selections for game days.
Communicating and collaborating with assistant coaches and program support (trainers and team manager) on a weekly basis.
Recruiting – including coordinating and communicating with local high school coaches and junior teams.
Working with all club coaches to promote a cohesive club community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous rugby coaching experience is required.
The candidate must conduct themselves in accordance with the standards accepted for coaches in the British Columbia Rugby Union Code of Conduct.
Applicants should be World Rugby Coach Level 2 qualified.
