MLR Week 3 Recap: Houston Leads West, New England Leads East, 32 Canada-Eligible Players in Action
There were 32 Canada-eligible players in action in Week 3, 18 starters and 14 reserves. Some of the highlights, Ben Lesage scored a try in his third successive match for New England. Mitch Richardson, Nic Benn, Dewald Kotze scored in the Dallas win over Anthem. Mason Flesch was top ball carrier for Chicago and Matt Heaton topped the tackle stats in the LA match.
New England 27 v New Orleans 21
Starting for New England were Andrew Quattrin, Kyle Baillie, Josh Larsen, Ben Lesage. In the reserves were Foster Dewitt, Conor Keys, Piers von Dadelszen, Isaac Olson, Cameron Nordli-Kelemeti. Not suiting up were Gabe Casey, Cole Keith, Ethan Fryer.
Starting for NOLA was Callum Botchar.
Scoring in the match was Ben Lesage for NE, his 3rd successive game scoring a try. Josh Larsen was 2nd in tackles made.
DC 22 v Chicago 22
For Chicago Mason Flesch starts at lock this week, Jason Higgins is in the reserves at #21 and not dressing is Lucas Rumball.
For DC it’s Tyler Rowland with the start at tighthead, on the bench are Cali Martinez and Gradyn Bowd.
Mason Flesch was the top ball carrier for Chicago.
Houston 30 v Miami 19
Starting for Miami was Shane O’Leary at fullback. Guiseppe du Toit was on the bench and Avery Oitomen didn’t dress.
Utah 13 v Seattle 23
Reid Davis was in the reserves for Seattle. The starting #8 was injured in the first minute so Davis came on as blindside flanker and played the entire match. The starting #6 moved to #8.
Utah had Emerson Prior and Rob Povey in the reserves. Not dressing were Noah Bain, Tyler Wong, Sam Reimer, Spencer Jones, Ben Keith.
San Diego 19 v LA 18
San Diego had Blair Cowan starting, Djustice Sears-Duru didn’t dress.
LA had Conor Young, Reegan O’Gorman, Matt Heaton, Jack Shaw, Andrew Coe starting.
Matt Heaton was top tackler in the game, Andrew Coe was 2nd in running metres for LA.
Charlotte 28 v Dallas 68
Liam Murray, Dewald Kotze, Nic Benn, Mitch Richardson all start for Dallas with Brock Gallagher in the reserves. Not dressing are Kyle Steeves and Karl Hunger.
For Charlotte Logan Weidner isn’t in the roster this week.
Mitch Richardson, Nic Benn, Dewald Kotze scored tries in the Dallas win.
