Vancouver Dominate Boys Competition with 3 Gold, Island Claim 2 Gold and Silver in Girls Competition, Valley Win One Gold and 3 Silver Overall, Interior Win U19 Boys Silver
The Vancouver Wave dominated the boys competition winning Gold at the U19, U17 and U15 levels. The Island Tide dominated the girls competition winning Gold at the U19, U17 and Silver at the U15 levels, also claiming Silver in the boys U15. The Fraser Valley won Gold in the U15 girls and Silver in the U19, U17 girls and U17 boys. The Interior had their best showing in the U19 boys division, winning Silver.

The Vancouver Wave saw off a battling Interior side to win the U19 Boys title with a 49-14 win. Interior take the silver medals home, with the Fraser Valley Venom claiming third with a 38-17 win over Crimson Tide.
In the game of the tournament, the Crimson Tide scored a last-gasp try to break Fraser Valley hearts and clinch the U19 Girls title with a 27-22 win. The Tide rallied with late pressure to sink the Venom in the very last play of the match. The Interior put in a fantastic performance to defeat Vancouver Wave 22-0 in the U19 Girls third-place play off.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, the Interior U19 Boys turned out a stinging performance to defeat home side Crimson Tide 40-17 and secure their spot in the Championship game. In the second semi-final, the Vancouver Wave won a close battle against Fraser Valley Venom 40-33 to advance.
Fraser Valley Venom U19 Girls dominated the Interior with a 77-0 semi-final win; Crimson Tide saw off the challenge of Vancouver Wave with a 66-7 win in the second semi-final.

Vancouver Wave broke Fraser Valley hearts with an intense 22-18 win to secure the U17 Boys title. The Interior secured a last-gasp 19-17 win over the Crimson Tide to secure third place.
Crimson Tide defeated the Fraser Valley 28-7 to win the U17 Girls gold medals, while Vancouver finished third in the U15 Girls Division after a 36-12 win over the Interior.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, the Fraser Valley Venom put in a strong showing to see off the threat of the Interior with a 30-11 win, while the Vancouver Wave cruised past Crimson Tide 60-0 to secure a spot in the final.
Crimson Tide saw off the Interior 75-0 to reach the U19 Girls Final, with Fraser Valley Venom defeating the Vancouver Wave by the same scoreline.

Vancouver Wave defeated Crimson Tide 31-21 for the U15 Boys gold medals, with the Tide settling for silver after a fantastic game on Upper Field.
Fraser Valley Venom won the U15 Girls Gold medals with a fantastic performance to see off the Crimson Tide.
Fraser Valley Venom claimed U15 Boys third place with an impressive 45-5 win over the Interior, while Vancouver finished third in the U15 Girls Division thanks to a 48-7 triumph over the Interior.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Crimson Tide defeated the Interior 53-21 to reach Sunday’s U15 Boys Final, where they would face the Vancouver Wave following the its 31-14 win over Fraser Valley Venom.
In the U15 Girls Division, the Fraser Valley Venom beat the Vancouver Wave 55-12 to set up a final clash with the Crimson Tide, who defeated the Interior 67-7.
PRC Schedule Announced for Saturday and Sunday at Shawnigan
The BCRU has announced the match schedule for this Saturday and Sunday at Shawnigan Lake School. There will be 3 fields in action with the U19 taking the main Canada field. Those matches will also be live streamed by Shawnigan with commentary. The winners on Saturday will compete for the title on Sunday. In the U19 boys competition it will be Island vs Interior and Vancouver vs Fraser Valley in the semi-finals. In the U19 girls competition it will be Fraser Valley vs Interior and Island vs Vancouver in the semi-finals. The live stream channel is here.

BCRU Sets Up PRC Event Page – Shawnigan to Live Stream U19 Matches
The BCRU has set up an events page that will have all the pertinent information for the age-grade regional competition that will feature teams from the four major regions of BC at the U19, U17 and U15 level. The tournament takes place over 2 days, July 5-6, at Shawnigan Lake School. The link to the event page is below.
Perhaps the most welcome news in the BCRU media release is that Shawnigan will do the live stream of the U19 games, that means quality camera work and commentary. The U17 and U15 games will rely on the VEO Ai system without commentary. It’s also welcome news that there will be a senior men’s Island v Mainland game at 5pm on Saturday, no word yet on whether that will be live streamed.

BC Rugby’s Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs) returns on July 5-6, 2025 at Shawnigan Lake School.
The famous BC Rugby weekend features the best youth Rugby players in BC suiting up for their respective regional teams. For emerging Rugby players, this tournament presents a perfect opportunity to impress any watching BC Rugby Age-Grade Team Coaches and make a bid for selection to the BC Bears.

Dates: Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, 2025
Purpose: The purpose of the Provincial Regional Championships (PRCs) is to foster the growth of competitive Rugby throughout British Columbia while also serving as the selection process for representative teams. The Championships aim to provide stage appropriate competition to motivate, challenge and inspire young players, as well as Coaches and Officials. At different ages, both Provincial Teams and the PRCs serve different purposes reflecting the stage of Long-Term Athlete Development each Age-Grade is generally at.
Awards: Sunday’s Gold and Silver Medal presentations will take place on the field after each respective gold medal match.
Champions Trophy: A new PRCs Champions Trophy will be presented to the winning region once all Medal matches are completed. This is based on a points system allocated to where each region finishes in the respective Divisions.
Merchandise: O’Neills will be on site selling exclusive PRCs merch, as well as BC Rugby merchandise! Get yours before they sell out!

Senior Men’s Exhibition Match: The Crimson Tide hosts the Vancouver Rugby Union Wave in a Senior Men’s Exhibition Match on Saturday, July 5 at 5:00pm PST. The match will take place on the Canada field. BC Rugby will release more details once confirmed.

PATHWAY TO BC BEARS
The 2025 PRCs act as the critical final stage of the selection process for the 2025 BC Bears Age-Grade XVs teams.
In line with the BC Rugby Selection Policy, we aim to provide several opportunities for players, as individuals and as part of a team, to demonstrate their ability and character. For all Age-Grades, the PRCs conclude the provincial teams’ selection process.
BC Bears Coaching Staff will attend the 2025 PRCs and will be finalizing their selections for squads to attend upcoming development camps, as the next step in the selection process.
