Vancouver 7s Wrap-Up with Photos

Photos from Vancouver 7s by Robb McCaghren, @the610photographer

There were a number of talented photographers at the Vancouver 7s. For example, Gone West Photography, posted some photos on Instagram. In this article we feature the work of Robb McCaghren, the610photographer, he is actually 6’10” tall and hence his nickname. He’s a new convert to rugby coming from football and now he’s hooked on rugby, I think he shot his first game in November and his comments were, “I’m really starting to like Rugby, a lot, and would love to keep shooting this sport. I dunno how these folks do it. Even in my prime, I don’t think I could have survived a sport like Rugby. I have an absolute ton of respect for these athletes. Y’all are absolutely amazing.”

So when he had a chance to go to BC Place to shoot the 7s we were glad to write a letter to support his application for a media pass. It was an adventure for him as he reflected on social media, “This weekend was a lot. A lot of adventure, a lot of new experiences, a lot of emotions watching fans celebrate their teams, and a lot of pride in watching local athletes from surrounding communities competing on the world stage. A lot of gratitude to the Rugby community, and their generosity and kindness. Especially to Mark at BC Rugby News and Dan at Dublin Calling pub on Granville, who welcomed me in for a coffee and breakfast after I spent the night trying to sleep in my (very not big enough) truck.” So welcome Robb to the rugby community. An added bonus, he has a son who is coming from football to rugby this season and will be playing his first game at the junior high school level this spring.

More About Robb

Robb has dabbled at making playing cards, might be a worthy rugby project for a club to take on. He made one for his son at football, hmm, 6’3, 290 lb, 13 years old, welcome to rugby Liam! Hopefully he’ll continue to play and develop under some expert front row/second row coaching guidance.
